Ivan Khovansky is restless in his heart, although he feels safe in his own house. Khovansky shrugs off the warning that the prince Golitsyn’s minions are giving him, and falls victim to the murderers sent by Shaklovity. Disgraced prince Golitsyn taken away into exile. Streltsov, who have already laid their heads on the chopping blocks, is pitying Tsar Peter.
Dositheus calls schismatics to martyrdom.
Together, they commit self-immolation.
